I have had the pleasure of knowing Alan Hall since 2003. At the time, he was looking for God to do a new thing in his life. His dear wife had passed year ago and he desired to start a ministry in Africa.
I must admit, I didn’t really think it would happen, but armed with a new God-given wife, a small pension and a desire to do the will of God, at the age of 62 Alan left everything behind and moved to Uganda to begin a ministry.
Once getting settled, Alan and Heather aligned themselves with Overseer Eric Bakwaata of the Revival International Ministries. He has found Overseer Bakwaata to be a true man of God and considers himself fortunate to be under such a great man.
Realizing that the best way to spread the word of God was through a well equipped ministry, Alan and Heather have concentrated their ministry mostly in teaching and preparing leaders in Uganda to spread the word of God. Sometimes sharing a van with goats, Alan and Heather, visit different sites in Uganda to mentor and train new preachers and missionaries.
Alan defines his ministries as an apostolic teaching ministry: Apostolic = the accurate teaching of God’s Word for the purpose of maturing the Believer and overseeing that Word in each person’s life through discipleship.
1) Focus & scriptural foundation: the focus of our ministry is the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry. Eph 4:11, 12. What is the equipping for the work of ministry?
- Every Christian has a ministry (a holy calling) and that ministry is determined by God. The word minister is defined as to serve.
- Within the context of bringing forth God’s Kingdom and 2 Timothy 1:9. we each have a God-
SPOTLIGHT ON
Several powerful Christian ministries are developing and having a profound impact on a people in dire need of help and direction.
ordained ministry that is determined by God. This is a specific ministry just for us which centers around the gifting that God has given us: teaching, pasturing, evangelism, hospitality, success in business, counseling, craftsmanship, etc. Our gifting is the natural talents God has given us. He intends that we put that gift(s) to work for His purpose.
-God has a plan for defeating Satan and establishing His rule and reign and within that plan He has a special job for each of us to do. THEREFORE THE JOB OF THE EPH. 4:11 MINISTRIES IS TO DO ALL THAT WE CAN TO IDENTIFY, NURTURE, AND DIRECT THE DEVELOPMENT OF EACH PERSONS GIFTING AND ITS APPLICATION IN THE MINISTRY OF BRINGING FORTH GODS KINGDOM.
2) His ministry methods:
- We appear at churches where we do a 1 hour teaching to introduce the Kingdom of God.
- We offer seminars designed develop Kingdom of God leadership skills. These seminars consist of 3-4 days teaching, 3 hours each day.
- We conduct small group (3-5 persons) discipleship training, weekly or bi-monthly with intense training in the Word and its implantation in each student’s life and activities.
- One on one training of pastors.
3) Additional activities:
- Crafts
- Visiting and teaching Orphans
- Establishing schools
Alan is in the process of completing his first book that is aimed at equipping leaders to more effectively spread the gospel of Christ by developing a closer relationship with God.
